North Harrow Carpet Cleaners Service Terms and Conditions

Carpet cleaning technician preparing equipment for a booked serviceThese Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which North Harrow Carpet Cleaners provides domestic and commercial carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, rug cleaning, stain treatment, and related specialist cleaning services within the United Kingdom. By making a booking, accepting a quotation, or permitting our technicians to commence work, the customer agrees to be bound by these terms. These terms are designed to be clear, fair, and practical, while protecting both the customer and the service provider.

In these Terms and Conditions, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to North Harrow Carpet Cleaners, and “you” or “the customer” refers to the person, business, landlord, tenant, managing agent, or other party requesting the service. References to carpet cleaning services include all standard and specialist cleaning work carried out by our team, whether performed in a private home, office, rental property, or other premises.

Any changes must be confirmed by us in a durable form, such as email or written message, and cannot be assumed from verbal discussions alone. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining sections shall continue to apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.

1. Booking Process

Bookings for North Harrow carpet cleaning services may be made by telephone, email, online enquiry, or through any other booking method we make available from time to time. A booking is not confirmed until we have accepted it and, where applicable, received any required deposit or advance payment. We reserve the right to refuse or decline a booking if the requested service is unsuitable, unsafe, outside our operational capacity, or otherwise impractical to complete to an appropriate standard.

When making a booking, you must provide accurate and complete information, including the type and size of the area to be cleaned, any known stains or damage, access details, parking restrictions, relevant property conditions, and any special requirements. If the information supplied is incomplete or inaccurate, the quotation, estimated duration, or outcome may change. Any change to the scope of work after the booking is accepted may result in a revised price or amended appointment time.

We may provide estimates based on the information you give us, but estimates are not fixed prices unless expressly stated as such. Final charges may vary where the condition of the carpet, upholstery, or related item differs materially from the description given at booking, or where additional work is required to complete the service properly. We will normally explain any material change before carrying out further work.

2. Service Access and Customer Responsibilities

Cleaning technician applying a carpet care treatment on siteYou are responsible for ensuring reasonable access to the premises at the agreed time. This includes arranging entry, unlocking necessary areas, securing parking where required, and removing fragile items, valuables, loose personal belongings, and hazards from the working area. Unless otherwise agreed, we will move only light furniture and standard movable items. Heavy, fixed, or delicate items are excluded unless specifically included in the quotation.

You must tell us in advance about any special risks, including fragile fibres, pre-existing wear, underlay issues, damp, mould, pet contamination, or prior treatment with cleaning chemicals. Certain materials may react unpredictably to water, agitation, heat, or cleaning solutions. If we believe that a surface is too delicate or too damaged to treat safely, we may decline to proceed or may limit the work to a safer method.

You are also responsible for ensuring that electrical supply, hot water access, and any other practical requirements are available where needed. We will take reasonable care when using equipment and solutions on site, but delays caused by unavailable access, missing utilities, or incomplete preparation may be chargeable if they affect the agreed schedule.

3. Payments and Charges

All prices are quoted in pounds sterling and are exclusive of VAT unless expressly stated otherwise. The amount payable will depend on the service type, level of soiling, size of the treated area, additional treatments requested, access conditions, and any other factors agreed at the time of booking. Any quotation is valid only for the period stated in it, or, if no period is stated, for a reasonable time.

Payment is due on completion of the work unless we have agreed alternative payment terms in writing before the service begins. We may request a deposit, advance payment, or full prepayment for certain bookings, including larger jobs, repeated cancellations, or appointments requiring significant preparation or reserved time. Where a deposit is taken, it may be non-refundable in accordance with the cancellation terms below.

Accepted payment methods may include bank transfer, debit card, credit card, cash, or other methods we state at the time of booking. If payment is not made when due, we reserve the right to charge reasonable costs incurred in pursuing the debt, including lawful recovery costs and applicable interest where permitted. Title to any goods supplied by us, if applicable, does not pass until payment has been received in full.

4. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and No-Access

If you need to cancel or reschedule a booking for carpet cleaning North Harrow services, you must notify us as early as possible. Cancellations made with sufficient notice may not incur a charge, but late cancellations may be subject to a fee reflecting the time reserved and any unrecoverable costs. The exact amount may depend on the notice given, the nature of the booking, and whether materials or equipment have already been allocated.

If you cancel after we have already travelled to the property, set up equipment, or commenced work, we may charge for attendance, labour, and any work already completed. Where a deposit has been paid, we may retain all or part of it to cover reasonable losses, subject always to applicable consumer law. If we must cancel or reschedule due to weather, safety concerns, staff illness, vehicle failure, or another event beyond our reasonable control, we will seek to rearrange the appointment at a mutually convenient time.

If we are unable to gain access at the agreed time, or if the premises are not suitably prepared for work, the appointment may be treated as a late cancellation or failed visit. In such cases, a call-out fee or cancellation charge may apply. Repeated missed appointments, false booking details, or unreasonable refusal of access may result in future bookings being declined.

5. Liability and Limitations

Carpet cleaning equipment ready for a scheduled appointmentWe aim to provide a professional cleaning service using reasonable skill and care. However, many carpets, rugs, and fabrics are affected by age, prior wear, sunlight, pre-existing staining, poor maintenance, chemical residue, or manufacturing characteristics. As a result, we do not guarantee complete stain removal, colour restoration, or uniform appearance. Some marks may be permanent or may reappear after drying due to residue migration, wicking, or hidden contamination.

We will not be liable for loss or damage arising from incomplete or inaccurate information provided by the customer, from hidden defects in the item cleaned, or from the natural limitations of the cleaning method chosen. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the re-cleaning of the affected area or the reasonable cost of the specific service provided, unless the law requires a different remedy. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

You must notify us promptly of any issue discovered after completion of the service. Where a complaint relates to alleged damage or unsatisfactory results, we may ask for photographs, reasonable inspection access, and an opportunity to return and assess the matter. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of earnings, loss of use, business interruption, or inconvenience, unless such liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

6. Waste Regulations, Environmental Duties, and Disposal

We operate in accordance with applicable UK waste management and environmental requirements. Wastewater, removed debris, used filters, disposable materials, and other by-products generated during the service will be managed responsibly. We will take reasonable steps to reduce waste, use cleaning materials efficiently, and dispose of waste through lawful and appropriate channels. We may not pour wastewater, removed contaminants, or chemical residue into drains or locations where this would breach environmental rules or property restrictions.

The customer is responsible for informing us of any site-specific disposal restrictions, septic systems, protected surfaces, commercial waste rules, or landlord, management, or building requirements. Where special disposal arrangements are necessary due to the condition of the premises or the nature of the contamination, additional charges may apply if agreed in advance or if reasonably necessary to complete the job safely and lawfully.

You must not request any action that would breach waste, environmental, fire, health and safety, or contamination-control regulations. If, in our reasonable judgment, any task would create an unlawful or unsafe disposal issue, we may suspend or refuse the relevant part of the service. This may include the handling of heavily contaminated materials, biological waste, or other substances requiring specialist treatment beyond standard North Harrow carpet cleaners operations.

7. Service Standards, Drying, and Aftercare

We will take reasonable care to protect floors, furnishings, and adjacent surfaces while carrying out the work. Nevertheless, some minor disruption is normal in any professional cleaning process. Drying times vary depending on carpet construction, ventilation, humidity, cleaning method, and the amount of soiling. We may provide aftercare guidance, and the customer agrees to follow any sensible instructions given to reduce the risk of damage, re-soiling, or extended drying.

If additional drying equipment, dehumidification, stain protection, deodorising, or specialist treatment is requested, it may be charged as an extra service. You should not walk on cleaned areas until they are sufficiently dry, except where we advise otherwise. Failure to follow aftercare guidance may affect the final appearance and may reduce any claim arising from the service.

We may decline to clean areas that pose a health or safety risk, including but not limited to severe mould, pest contamination, flood damage, or unsafe flooring. In such cases, we may recommend that the area be addressed by a specialist contractor. Our decision to refuse or limit service in these circumstances shall not be treated as a breach of contract.

8. Complaints and Reperformance

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our work, you should notify us within a reasonable time after completion and before the item is heavily used again or altered by another party. We may ask for supporting information and may offer a re-attendance, inspection, or other proportionate remedy where appropriate. We will consider each complaint fairly and in line with applicable consumer rights.

Where the issue is caused by a service fault that we accept, our preferred remedy may be to repeat the relevant work or correct the issue at no additional charge, provided this is practicable. If a problem arises from factors outside our control, such as hidden fibre damage or a pre-existing defect, no free remedy may be available. Any remedy offered does not imply admission of liability beyond what the law requires.

Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable UK consumer legislation. However, you agree to give us a fair opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter before arranging third-party intervention, as doing so may affect any claim.

9. Force Majeure, Assignment, and General Terms

Final service confirmation scene for a professional carpet cleaning visitWe shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, traffic disruption, industrial action, power failure, accident, public restrictions, illness, or equipment breakdown. Where such events occur, performance may be suspended until reasonably possible and the appointment may be rearranged.

We may assign, subcontract, or transfer our rights and obligations under these terms where reasonably necessary to provide the service. Any subcontracted work will remain subject to these Terms and Conditions unless stated otherwise in writing. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under the booking without our prior written consent.

If we do not immediately enforce any part of these terms, that does not waive our right to enforce it later. A waiver of any provision will be effective only if stated in writing. These terms, together with the booking confirmation and any written quotation, form the entire agreement between the parties in relation to the service provided.

10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The parties agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer law permits proceedings in another UK jurisdiction.

If any part of these terms conflicts with mandatory legal rights, those rights shall prevail to the extent required by law. The remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. By booking a service with North Harrow Carpet Cleaners, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
